Memorial stones photo exhibition

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration will hold a photo exhibition of memorial stones from the Tarumanagara era at the Museum of Memorial Stone Park on Jl. Tanah Abang I, Central Jakarta, next week, an official said on Monday.

Head of the archeology and history subdivision of the City Museum and Restoration Agency, Candrian Attahiyat, said the exhibition of photos of stones dating from the fifth century would be held from March 14 until to Apr. 1.

"About 50 photographs will be exhibited during the event, which is scheduled to be opened by Governor Sutiyoso," he said, adding that the pictures originated from the memorial stone park museum's collection in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education.

Head of the museum Sudihardjo said separately that the exhibition, entitled "Jakarta Abad 5" (Jakarta in the fifth century) was also aimed at attracting more visitors to the museum.

"Our museum is not so popular among people. There are only about 50 visitors every day and most of them are students, whose visit was instructed by their schools," he said. (ind)
