Megawati to get royal title

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: As the election day draws near, presidential candidate Megawati Soekarnoputri will obtain a royal title that may boost her public image.

This time, she will get the title Sutan Ibu Negara from the Lampung community, during a function scheduled to be held in Bandarlampung on Tuesday. Her husband Taufik Kiemas will obtain a similar title of Sutan Raja Negara in the function, bestowed by Lampung Pepadun and Sai Batin royal families.

Megawati and her husband were granted the royal title for their contribution to the development of Lampung, according to Syafariah Widiyanti, one of families of Lampung Governor Sjachroeddin Z.P, who is also a royal family member. -- JP
