Megawati must make a stand

If Megawati wishes to become the leader of the country, she has to take stern measures to uphold justice. That is the only way to win the support of the people. Megawati should be able to take a stand without having to take the side of any group in the name of political or personal interests.

The enforcement of the supremacy of the law should be prioritized and must never be put off. At the least, Megawati must show who she really is, or else the Indonesian people will believe that she is a President who enjoys the people's support because of the charisma of her father, Bung Karno.

Megawati should demonstrate that she is able to lead not only the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan), but also the nation.

A true leader never calculates the losses and profits and is never afraid of losing his or her post. History records that both Bung Karno and Nehru were once good friends and had the same vision and mission of advancing their nations so they could stand equal with other nations in the world.

Some economic and political experts say Megawati has lost popularity because of doubts about her ability to lead Indonesia. Megawati is seen as unsure and gives the impression of being afraid of losing the presidency.

Such impressions should be erased by a leader's attitude and their willingness to take real action.
