Mega's husband hospitalized

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri's husband Taufik Kiemas was taken to Pertamina Hospital in South Jakarta on Friday with an increased blood sugar level.

Taufik was admitted to the hospital at about 5:30 p.m., while Megawati was on her way back to Jakarta from Mojokerto, Central Java.

"He has to stay overnight because doctors want to give him a complete medical examination," sources at the president's residence told The Jakarta Post.

Taufik underwent heart surgery in Australia in 2000. He has reportedly been staying at his residence on Jl. Teuku Umar in Central Jakarta for the past two weeks. --JP
