Mega holds Cabinet meeting

INDONESIA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri called an impromptu Cabinet meeting on Saturday to prepare for the upcoming People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Annual Session next month, discussing with ministers her progress report after one year in power.

Coordinating Minister for Security Affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said the Cabinet was preparing the "government's progress report" for Megawati.

"This is normal work for the Cabinet, but we'll make sure that we address everything during the annual session," he said after attending the meeting.

The report covers issues on politics, economy, social and security as well as government programs, according to Susilo.

President Megawati normally holds her Cabinet meeting every Thursday, but several ministers said she had called the meeting for Saturday as everyone was busy throughout the week. -- Antara
