Mega criticizes national shuttlers

JAKARTA: President Megawati Soekarnoputri said on Wednesday
that she was not satisfied with the performance of Indonesian
shuttlers in the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup championships.

"Indonesia is hosting the event but our shuttlers keep losing
their matches," she explained.

"Our sports in general are all in decline," she bemoaned.

Megawati was speaking at the General Elections Commission
(KPU) while delivering her platform. She promised to increase the
quality of sports development activities if she was elected
president, but somehow neglected to mention why she had failed to
do so over the last three years.

Indonesian women's team comprising young shuttlers was
defeated 3-1 by South Korea in the quarterfinals. -- JP
