Medan to host NRG4SD meeting
MEDAN, North Sumatra: United Nations and North Sumatra provincial government officials held a meeting on Tuesday in Medan, to discuss preparations for a huge forum called the Network of Regional Governments for Sustainable Development (NRG4SD), slated to be held in the province between Feb. 14 and Feb. 17 next year.
The forum will be attended by over 2,000 participants, some 1,400 of them from overseas, including governors, academicians and businessmen.
The participants will discuss how to improve education, small and medium scale business, fisheries and other fields in developed and developing countries.
North Sumatra Governor Rizal Nurdin said that his administration had earmarked Rp 5 billion (US$531,914) for the forum. The forum will the fifth after the first forum held in Johannesburg, South Africa two years ago. -- JP
