Medan moves factories to north
MEDAN, North Sumatra: All manufacturing plants in south Medan will soon be asked to relocate to the north in compliance with the city's spatial plan, the Antara news agency reported.
The spatial plan has designated the southern part of Medan strictly for residential purposes, according to Wirda Alrahman, an official of the city's spatial planning section.
Factory owners in south Medan have agreed in principle to relocate at the end of their leases, Wirda said.
They can move to one of the following designated industrial zones: Belawan, Marelan, Labuhan and Timbang Deli. (emb)
