Medan-Jakarta sailings canceled
MEDAN, North Sumatra: The state-owned shipping company PT Pelni has canceled its Aug. 24 and Aug. 28 Medan-Jakarta sailings because its KM Sinabung suffered damaged after it collided with the Panamanian tanker MT World Nord Sunday.
"There is no replacement yet for KM Sinabung," Pelni branch office chief Anwar Sianipar told The Jakarta Post yesterday.
Sunday's collision in the busy Malacca Straits left four KM Sinabung passengers dead. The MT World Nord was en route from Singapore to Spain when the accident occurred.
Those who had bought tickets to travel on KM Sinabung from Belawan port to Jakarta's Tanjung Priok port would get refunds, Sianipar said. (21)
