JAKARTA (JP): The quantity of beef, buffalo and chicken consumed by approximately 1.12 million residents in North Jakarta reaches about 30 tons per day, while the consumption of pork amounts to seven tons.

"In North Jakarta there are 500 traditional meat traders trained by the Livestock Husbandry Office on how to sell meat of good quality," Suwito said.

Beef and buffalo is sold at between Rp 9,500 (US$4.31) and Rp 13,000 per kilogram, while chicken costs Rp 4,500 a kilogram. No prices for pork were available. (hhr)
