Mayor warns developers

TANGERANG (JP): Tangerang mayor M. Thamrin warned on Tuesday
that developers who were found guilty of swindling funds from
city-funded projects would be blacklisted.

In a ceremony at the City Hall which marked the inauguration
of 146 projects completed in the 2000 fiscal year, Thamrin urged
all developers to maintain the quality of their work as it would
not only avoid wasting government funds, but benefit the people.

"Errant developers will not be awarded any project in the
future," Thamrin said.

Construction projects sanctioned by the mayoralty
administration in the nine-month-old fiscal year in 2000 amounted
to over Rp 77.64 billion. The projects included the construction
of several bridges in the Tirtayasa, Karang Anyar and Pramuka
areas, an elementary school building and local government
