Mayor dismisses 12 notorious workers

TANGERANG: Mayor Wahidin Halim has dismissed two civil servants and 10 contract employees since January in an attempt to discipline employees of the administration offices.

Wahidin said on Tuesday that the 12 employees were dismissed for drug abuse, absent for two months without permission, abusing their positions and embezzling administration funds.

He added at the same time, 631 employees had been promoted.

"I have ordered my subordinates to monitor the performance of their respective staff members," Wahidin said.

In a bid to reduce absenteeism, the administration has also imposed a new policy of deducting the civil servants salaries by three percent, if they are absent for three consecutive days without notice. -- JP
