Maya says Tommy has not contacted her for 10 years

JAKARTA (JP): Singer Olivia Maya Rumantir, a close friend of Hutomo "Tommy" Mandala Putra, claimed on Monday that her last contact with Tommy was about 10 years ago.

"I used to know him but it was some nine years ago. We have not contacted each other for almost 10 years, I think," Maya told a media conference after she was questioned by police in connection with Tommy's whereabouts.

Maya who is also president director of Maya Gita Human Resources Development Institute was questioned for almost three and a half hours at the Jakarta Police Headquarters.

She said her relationship with Tommy was in the past and too personal to be disclosed to the public.

"If you want to ask about Tommy, I suggest you to go to his wife. He is a married man," she said before leaving the police headquarters.

Tommy married Ardhia "Tata" Pramesti Regita in 1997.

Maya's lawyer O.C. Kaligis said he did not know on what basis the police summoned his client, saying the relationship between Maya and Tommy had never been confirmed.

Jakarta Police chief detective Sr. Comr. Adang Rochana said police would seek information from anyone who was believed to have had relations with Tommy.

Police also had planned on Monday to question film star Yenny Rachman but the latter did not show up at the police headquarters.

"We will send her a second summons and if she still does not show up after the third summons, we will forcibly bring her here for questioning," Adang said.

Earlier, Sulaiman Alzabri, who is suspected to be one of Tommy's accomplices in the murder of Supreme Court Justice M. Syafiuddin Kartasasmita, went to the Jakarta Police Headquarters to hand over a BMW motorcycle belonging to Tommy.

Sulaiman, a resident of Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta, said he went to the police headquarters to clarify his relationship with Tommy which he claimed was "only business" with regard to automotives.

"I have not been summoned. I have come on my own volition to hand over this motorcycle to the police, in case they need it as evidence," Sulaiman remarked.

Separately, Central Jakarta Police summoned on Monday Tommy's eldest sister Siti Hardijanti "Tutut" Indra Rukmana for questioning. Tutut was also summoned for questioning last week with regards to Tommy's whereabouts.

Tommy is still at large since he fled in November last year after being sentenced by the Supreme Court to 18 months imprisonment for corruption involving the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) and his firm PT Goro Batara Sakti.(emf)
