Matahari expands business to Batam
JAKARTA: Retailer PT Matahari Putra Prima has opened a new hypermarket in Batam as part of the company's planned expansion, a statement from the company said.
The store, occupied an area of 6,000 square meters, is the second hypermarket to be opened by Matahari, with the first being opened in Jakarta earlier this year.
Currently, Matahari owns 234 stores, consisting of department stores, hypermarkets, supermarkets and the Timezone gaming centers. For 2005, the company plans to open 11 hypermarkets, 11 department stores and up to 25 Timezone centers across the country.
The new hypermarket was official opened by Batam mayor Nyat Kadir. -- JP
