Marsinah witnesses face lie detector

SURABAYA: Alleged witnesses to the murder of labor activist Marsinah have taken lie detector tests in a bid to unveil the eight-year old mystery.

Polygraph tests were performed on Wednesday on the main witness and former suspects in the case: a security guard of PT Catur Putra Surya, the watch factory where Marsinah worked, and two company executives -- Yudi Susanto and Yudi Astono.

Similar tests were also conducted on Thursday on two more company guards, Suprapto and A.S. Suprayogi, chief of East Java Police public affairs detectives Lt. Col. Anton Charliyan said.

"The test is important as there are conflicting testimonies," Anton added.

Marsinah, a worker at PT Catur Putra Surya in Porong, East Java, was found dead in the Nganjuk area in May 1993.

She was allegedly killed after organizing rallies to demand better salaries. (nur/edt)
