Marsinah case near end: police

SURABAYA: Police here claim that the investigation into the 1993 murder of labor activist Marsinah is close to being completed.

Head of the Police Detectives directorate at the provincial police headquarters, Col. Suharto, said "the investigation is almost finished."

Suharto said one of the stages of the investigation would be to send blood samples found on various pieces of evidence to Australia for DNA testing.

The procedure is necessary in determining whether the blood stains really belong to Marsinah, Suharto said.

Suharto also said that two forensic experts from the University of Airlangga had been asked to assist the police with the investigation, which was reopened in February of this year.(08)
