Marijuana seized in Bali

DENPASAR, Bali: The narcotics division of the Bali Police on Monday afternoon arrested separately three alleged drug dealers and seized a total of 5.9 kilograms of marijuana in Kuta, some 15 kilometers west of here.

"We believe the suspects belong to the same organization," Bali Police chief Insp. Gen. Wayan Ardjana said on Tuesday.

The officers arrested Mohammad Faisal when they raided a rented house on Jl. Kartika Plaza and found some 50 grams of marijuana.

Following tips from the 31-year-old Faisal, the officers arrested Nanang Harun (23), who had 5.75 kgs of marijuana in his backpack. Nanang was believed to be the delivery person for the organization.

The contraband was in several medium-sized packets, and tightly sealed in a plastic bag in an apparent attempt to elude police dogs.

The last suspect, Endy Lukman Hakim (23) was arrested on Monday afternoon in a house on Jl. Majapahit, where officers found 100 grams of marijuana.

The suspects, who hail from East Java, said the marijuana was bought in Jakarta, and was transported by land to Bali. (zen)
