Marijuana patch found in Jambi

JAMBI, Jambi: Jambi Police recently discovered hundreds of marijuana (cannabis sativa) plants growing in a remote area of Bukit Gunung Kerinci.

Local police had seized hundreds of kilograms of dried marijuana last year from residents in a nearby area.

Jambi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Djoko Turrochman said on Friday that the plants -- between three to five months old -- were found on Tuesday and Wednesday in two separate places on the hill in Sungai Gelampeh village, Kerinci regency.

Djoko said the police had obtained the names of the residents who had planted the marijuana patch and were tracking them down. -- JP
