Marijuana fields discovered

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: Police found on Sunday three marijuana
fields in Glee Meulinggee village, North Brueh Island, in Aceh
Besar regency, some 25 miles from Ulele Beach.

About 5,700 six-month-old cannabis plants were uprooted and
kept as evidence and the rest were destroyed on location, said
Chief of Banda Aceh/Aceh Besar Police Lt. Col. Mohd. Tachya
Hidayat.

The owners of the fields escaped.

He was quoted by Antara as saying yesterday that the police
also held, as evidence, a blanket, a sarong, a shirt, a pair of
pants and a motorcycle believed to have been stolen from a
villager by the field owners. (swe)
