Maribeth back in town

JAKARTA (JP): After vanishing for two years from the Indonesian music scene, Filipina singer Maribeth B. Pascua who dazzled the nation with her Denpasar Moon song four years ago, is back in Indonesia.

She will be performing at Poster Cafe on Jl. Gatot Subroto tonight at 9 p.m. Besides including songs from her last three albums, the winner of the 1991 Voice of Asia also has several Indonesian pop songs in her repertoire such as Vina Panduwinata's Aku Makin Cinta (I Am More in Love) and Ruth Sahanaya's Bawa Daku Pergi (Carry Me Away).

Maribeth is now free from her contract with Sony Music Japan and is preparing her fourth album with PT IndoSemar Sakti. The album will consist of 10 songs, all in Indonesian.

Maribeth's Denpasar Moon created a sensation here in 1993 when it became a blockbuster throughout the country. More than 60 illegal cover versions followed its success. At the time it was suggested she be made an honorary citizen of Bali, but the idea was rejected by the local government. (35)
