Many out of TVRI's reach
MANADO, North Sulawesi: More than half of the North Sulawesi population cannot tune in to TVRI, the state television station, because they live in areas known as "blind spots."
The head of the TVRI Manado broadcasting station, Zainuddin Nabeng, said that in all, 53.3 percent of the province's population cannot watch TVRI programs. In contrast, the national average is only 30 percent.
Zainuddin said the mountainous terrain of the province means that many people cannot tune in TVRI, although the network has already built 11 relaying stations throughout the province. (emb)
