Manulife Indonesia case

Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti's statement on an insurance company's case is not wrong. Manulife Indonesia, which has been declared bankrupt by the Jakarta Commercial Court, should serve as a very important lesson.

The Canadian government has thus protested against the controversial verdict.

The French ambassador to Indonesia, at a media conference in Bandung, West Java, urged the Indonesian government to take a firm attitude toward law enforcement in the country.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Industry shares the French ambassador's and Canadian government's view as well.

The presiding judge of the court that dealt with the case said he did not agree with his two colleagues who handed down the verdict.

It is thus high time for the government to launch a campaign against corruption, collusion and nepotism, starting from our own back yard, right up to the government itself.
