Man's body arrives from Malaysia

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: A box bearing a man's body arrived on Friday from Malaysia at Selaparang airport here, Antara reported Sunday.

Maj. M. Basri of the provincial police department confirmed on Saturday that the box was unloaded from a Garuda Indonesia Airways flight from Malaysia.

"He apparently died from an illness but we have yet to investigate the case further. Relatives of the dead man have buried him in Jerowaru village in Keruak subdistrict.

"We cannot give details of the dead man because there is no official report from Keruak," he said.

Local dailies said the box was kept at the airport for about two hours after it arrived at Selaparang at about noon but nobody arrived to pick it up. The airport authority subsequently sent the package to the deceased's home village, Jerowaru, Friday.

West Nusa Tenggara has received more than five dead bodies from Malaysia in recent years.

Many locals travel to the neighboring country to work at oil palm plantations.
