Mandung people refuse weste facilities
DENPASAR, Bali: Mandung people in Kerambitan subdistrict, Tabanan, Bali, voiced their opposition on Tuesday against a plan by the Tabanan administration to build a waste treatment facility in their area as it was too close to their dwellings.
"We're worried that the waste facility, which would be built to too close to us, would affect our health," said I Nyoman Kardi, representing the protesters.
According to him, the administration had initially told the Mandung people that it planned to build the Rp 8.8 billion waste treatment facility about three kilometers away from the people's houses, but it turned out later that the distance would be only about 1.2 kilometers.
The local administration has not yet responded to the protest. --Antara
