Mandiri probe nears completion

JAKARTA: The interdepartmental anticorruption team expects to complete its investigation into an alleged lending scam in state- owned Bank Mandiri this month.

"We are ready to submit the dossiers to the prosecutors," the team head, Herdarman Supandji, said on Tuesday. He added that barring unforeseen glitches, the court case could start next month.

The Attorney General's Office has named former president director Edward Cornelis William Neloe, his former deputy I Wayan Pugeg and former corporate banking director M. Sholeh Tasripan suspects for giving their approval for loans to four companies, which caused Rp 1.3 trillion (US$134 million) in state losses.

The three suspects have been detained since May 17. -- JP
