Bank Mandiri says it has disbursed Rp 30.2 trillion (US$3.35 billion) in palm oil sector loans in the first nine months of 2010, up 35 percent from the same period last year.

The nation's largest lender by assets lent Rp 231.85 trillion from January to September with loan growth up 23.1 percent over the same period last year, according to a bank statement released on Thursday.

Palm oil loans, according to the bank, accounted for 14 percent of its total forestry industry loans.

"We are sure that the prospects for palm oil will continue to grow as we've understood the characteristics of the business for quite some time," senior Bank Mandiri official Rafjon Yahya said. (est)
