Mandala flies to Ambon

JAKARTA (JP): Mandala Airlines, one of the country's scheduled airlines, will operate one more service to Ambon, Maluku.

Mandala's district manager in Ambon, Arie Andrianto, said the decision to add the new service was made following successful extra flights linking Ambon and Ujungpandang in South Sulawesi with cities in Java and Sumatra including Surabaya, Jakarta, Bandung and Medan.

"The load factor during the extra flights, operational from June 1 to July 20, is very promising and is about 75 percent," Arie said as quoted by Antara over the weekend.

He said the new regular flight to Ambon would serve passengers intending to fly to the country's eastern region as well to the country's western part.

Head of the Ministry of Transportation in Maluku, Suwandi, said Mandala's additional flight to Ambon would substitute a Sempati service which was recently suspended due to a rationalization plan. (icn)
