Manager of poultry company killed
TANGERANG (JP): A deputy manager at PT Sumber Rejeki, a
poultry firm, was robbed and killed Monday night by a group of
unidentified men who got away with goods worth Rp 30 million
(US$12,903) in Parigi Lama village, Pondok Aren district,
Tangerang.
An officer at the Pondok Aren police sub-precinct said I Wayan
Suyatna was found dead in his office with severe injuries to his
head. He added that the man was killed by a group of men who made
off with a tape recorder, a television set, a cellular phone and
a jeep.
"We presume that there were more than three men, but we are
still investigating," the officer said yesterday.
A company security guard said that Wayan, 36, was supposed to
meet between 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. with a known hoodlum named
Herry alias Jagger.
The security guard opened the gate of the building to let a
Suzuki Katana jeep owned by Wayan pass through at 00:30 a.m. He
thought the jeep was being driven by Wayan.
Later at around 2 a.m. other employees from the company went
to Wayan's office and were shocked to find Wayan lying on the
floor in his office bleeding.
The police said that Wayan probably fought with the robbers,
who then tied him up with a piece of rope and hit him in the head
several times with a blunt object.
It is believed that the men entered the company compound by
scaling the metal fence.
Bambang S., a forensics officer at Cipto Mangunkusumo general
hospital, confirmed that Wayan was beaten to death by a blunt
object.
Wayan's brother, I Nyoman Ardiansyah, said that Wayan used to
stay in his office until late at night.
Nyoman said his brother, who was planning to marry his
girlfriend this year, will be buried in his home village of
Rajasa village, in Tabanan regency, Bali. (18/04)
