Manado rejoices at green trophy

Manado, North Sulawesi: The Adipura Kencana award, given to
this city by President Soeharto, was displayed in a motorcade on
Tuesday throughout the town's main roads.

Manado is one of eight cities that were awarded the trophy for
the cleanest cities in Indonesia.

Manado Mayor N.H. Eman brought home the trophy from Jakarta.
Upon his arrival, he was greeted by a crowd of officials and
volunteers who insisted that the trophy be displayed in an open
motorcade on its way to the mayoralty's office.

This is the fifth time that Manado has been given the award.
