Man suspected of robbery murdered

BOGOR: A man was beaten to death on Sunday night here after locals suspected him of theft of a motorbike in Kampung Babakan Waru, Pabuaran village of Bogor regency.

The victim, identified as Warsino alias Mardan, 36, tried to run away after Isman, the vehicle owner, apparently caught him in the act. An unruly mob quickly got wind of what was happening and flocked to the scene within seconds. They immediately began beating the alleged thief with various weapons, including a machete, according to Adj. Comr. Kusno, head of the Jonggol police precinct.

Warsino died on the spot, and it was not clear if any of the vigilantes who dealt the lethal blows were arrested. --JP
