Man stabs wife, kills himself

JAKARTA: Unemployed Suryana, 40, stabbed himself with a knife after stabbing his wife, Mulyana, 34, at her arm in a domestic fight on Wednesday morning. Suryana died as the single stab cut his heart.

The fight of the couple, who reside in Bukit Duri area, South Jakarta, turned fatal when the husband, who was known as a drunk, trying to snatch a golden ring from Mulyana's finger. The wife tried to stop him, but the angry husband hit her.

Holding a knife, Suryana attacked her wife who had fell on the floor. He afterwards stabbed the knife into his chest.

He died instantly while Mulyana, who earn money by doing other people's laundry, was now hospitalized at Budi Asih Hospital. -- JP
