Man murdered on mosque porch

TANGERANG (JP): A suspected thug, Mad alias Gondrong, was found dead with several stab wounds to his head and neck on the porch of Munawwaroh Mosque in the Ahmad Yani soccer stadium on Jl. Windu Karya I, Tangerang, early on Tuesday.

Tangerang substation police chief Ins. Sumanto said police found a sickle inside Gondrong's bag and a car key that police suspect was used in car thefts was in his pocket.

The victim, 20, a resident of Neglasari subdistrict, was first found at 4 a.m. by nightclub workers who frequently take a rest on the porch after work.

Police have yet to find any clues to the murder, but a food vendor near the mosque alleged that the victim was stabbed by a group of thugs he identified as Codet, Erlan and Kubil.

The vendor said Codet was in love with Siti, a sex worker, and the victim was probably killed out of jealousy.

She added that the Munawwaroh Mosque porch was home to many thugs and prostitutes. The mosque keeper had once tried to ban them but was threatened with sickles by the thugs.

She said that many people who prayed at the mosque had lost their shoes. (01)
