Man mobbed for motorcycle theft

JAKARTA (JP): A motorcycle thief was mobbed to death after being caught red handed by the vehicle owner in Cijantung, Pasar Rebo subdistrict, East Jakarta, late on Wednesday.

The thief was identified as 30-year old Doni, also a resident of the subdistrict.

According to Sunaryo, a local resident who came to see the body at Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital (RSCM) morgue, Doni was trying to steal a motorcycle at Sunardi's house.

"But Sunardi saw him and shouted 'thief' so that residents came out and surrounded the thief," he said.

He said Doni could not escape and was immediately attacked by the angry residents until he died on the site.

"Police arrived minutes later just to take Doni's corpse to RSCM," he said.(01)
