Man kills 17-year-old wife

PURWAKARTA, West Java: A 45-year-old driver was arrested over
the weekend for killing his 17-year-old wife, Syamsiah, in a fit
of jealous rage, Antara reported yesterday.

Police said Saturday that the victim was found dying from her
injuries by her neighbors in Linggasari village, Darangdan
district, on Thursday morning. She died on her way to the
hospital.

Quoting neighbors, police said that the two had had a bitter
quarrel shortly before she was beaten.

It was reported that the driver had accused his wife of having
an affair. She had been married to the suspect, identified only
as ED, for two years.

The police confiscated a 50-centimeter-long metal pipe stained
with blood from the crime scene, the report said. (ste)
