Man killed by extortionists

TANGERANG, West Java (JP): A man was stabbed to death after
refusing to yield to extortionists' demands for money after he
was caught making out with his girlfriend in the town's central
park.

A group of hoodlums caught Kiking Kurniawan, 25, and his 20-
year-old girlfriend Supriati in Taman Hutan Kota on Monday,
Tangerang Police said.

Residents have complained that the park, once the pride of the
town, has become unsafe after a series of robberies and
extortions.

Tangerang Police said they are also investigating the death of
25-year-old Mujid, who was reported to have been electrocuted at
his home while trying to repair an electric fan Monday.

Mujid, a worker at shoe manufacturer PT Panarub, was
discovered by a friend. He died later at Tangerang General
