Man jailed for selling friend's bike

TANGERANG: The Tangerang District Court on Tuesday sentenced a man for selling his friend's motorcycle for Rp 4,500,000 in June this year.

Presiding judge Warsito said defendant Fachrudin, 42, a resident of Bojong Gede, Bogor, had been proven guilty of selling a Honda Astrea Grand belonging to his friend H. Musa on June 21, in Batu Ceper district.

According to prosecutor Laswan, the defendant had borrowed the motorcycle from Musa for use as an ojek (motorcycle taxi). Musa did not object as the defendant told him that he was in need of money, with his wife soon to give birth.

"But the latter then sold the motorcycle to another friend called Maman at the price of Rp 4,500,000 and had disappeared," the prosecutor said.

The defendant was arrested on June 29 following Musa's complaints to the police. JP
