Man jailed 5 months for wrecking bike

JAKARTA (JP): A court yesterday sentenced a man to five months imprisonment for smashing up a bicycle belonging to a creditor in March.

"You are sentenced to five months imprisonment. And you have promised your father that this shameful act will not be repeated," Judge Alboin Sianipar told suspect Miskun Baskoro, 24.

On March 26, Miskun attacked Bun Sun Kiun, 43, a garment creditor who was traveling by bicycle and collecting repayments on Gang Salon in the Kebon Kelapa subdistrict of Central Jakarta.

According to Bun, after she was beaten several times, Miskun put a sickle to her neck.

"The suspect had been threatening me for something that I have no idea of. I have always been polite whenever I pass the alley," Bun told the court in a previous hearing.

Prosecutor Tiangsa Karo previously demanded that Miskun Baskoro be imprisoned for seven months.

Miskun's family initiated a Rp 65,000 reimbursement for Bun's wrecked bicycle in addition to a heartfelt apology for the mental agony she went through, Miskun's father who wished to remain anonymous told The Jakarta Post. (14)
