Man deported for overstaying visa

JAKARTA (JP): The Tangerang immigration office deported a Singaporean identified as Ibrahim bin Shaik Hussain Bamadhag for violating his visa, an official said on Monday.

"Ibrahim was involved in stock trading here. He overstayed his visa and did not have a legal business permit," Tangerang immigration office head Dodi M. Wibowo said, adding that the Singaporean was arrested on Oct. 8.

Ibrahim left the country aboard Garuda flight number GA-826 from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Saturday, Dodi said.

Ibrahim entered the country on May 12 this year with a short- visit visa, Dodi said, adding that such visas were valid for a 60-day period and could not be renewed.

"Ibrahim was applying for his stay permit at the Tangerang (immigration) office when we found out that he had already overstayed," Dodi said. (edt)
