Man caught with 'shabu-shabu'

BOGOR (JP): Police in Bogor have arrested a man in possession of 141 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) at his residence in the Indraprasta housing complex in Bantarjati.

Bogor Police chief Sr. Supt. Taufik Ridha confirmed on Tuesday the arrest of Sulaeman, alias Toto, saying police also confiscated a gun and a pipe used to smoke shabu-shabu.

"This could be the biggest (haul), in terms of the amount of shabu-shabu confiscated," he said, adding that police were operating under the assumption that Sulaeman was selling the drugs in Bogor.

Bogor Police chief of detectives Sr. Supt. Budi Prasetya said the suspect had admitted to buying 150 grams of shabu-shabu in Mangga Dua in downtown Jakarta for Rp 150,000 per gram.

Quoting the suspect, Budi said the shabu-shabu was sold to customers, mostly university students, for between Rp 300,000 and Rp 400,000 per gram.

Atmadi, the chief of the neighborhood where the suspect lives, said four months ago local residents, suspecting Sulaeman was a drug dealer, filed a report with the police.

"There was no response," he said. (21/sur)
