Man caught with marijuana

TANGERANG (JP): Tangerang Police arrested a suspected drug dealer, identified as Slamet, 24, at his home in the Curug housing complex here, and confiscated two kilograms of marijuana worth Rp 2 million (US$250) and Rp 35,000 in cash, an officer said on Friday.

"The man admitted to having sold the marijuana for the past three months," said Tangerang Police detectives chief Capt. Krisnandi.

Slamet was arrested after selling marijuana to plainclothes officers who had been working undercover on the case for about a week.

The suspect said he usually sold an envelope of hashish for Rp 20,000, while dried marijuana cigarettes were sold for Rp 10,000 per six cigarettes, the officer said.

"He said he sold the marijuana to students here," Krisnandi said.

The suspect could face seven years in prison and a Rp 250 million fine for the possession, sale and use of marijuana. (41/edt)
