Man caught with 12 kg marijuana

JAKARTA: Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for possession of 12 kilograms of marijuana.

The arrest was made on Friday in Rawabelong, Palmerah, West Jakarta.

Head of the West Jakarta Police Narcotics Division, Comr. Tubagus Adi Hidayat, said on Tuesday that the arrest of the suspect, identified only as ZP, was based on information given by two suspected drug dealers, RY and US, who were detained earlier.

He said that the task force had long suspected that drug transactions often took place in the Palmerah area.

"After a series of investigations we finally nabbed RY and US, who had 11 and 28 packages of marijuana respectively in their possession when arrested," Hidayat said.

The three were now being detained at the West Jakarta Police detention center pending further investigation, he added. -- JP
