Man axed wife to death

BOGOR: A 40-year-old man, Oding, is being detained by the Sukabumi District Police for allegedly axing his wife to death.

Oding's wife Esih, 35, who had given birth to their sixth child only two weeks ago, was killed and her body mutilated in her own home in Cicareuh village, at dawn on Tuesday.

Her body was found by a visiting neighbor, Otang Iskandar.

There were no signs of any domestic violence on the night before the murder, Otang said. The neighbor suggested that Oding's frustration over his wife's long illness may have been the motive of the murder.

The couple had been married for 17 years, and Oding, who was arrested at a coffee shop not far from his house, worked as a lumberjack.--JP
