Man arrested for raping deaf-mute

TANGERANG: Curug subprecinct police arrested a man for allegedly raping a deaf and mute woman on a soccer field in Cibundar village, Curug, late on Thursday.

Police chief Insp. I Ketut Sudarsana said the 42-year-old suspect attacked the 36-year-old woman, who was passing near the soccer field, and raped her.

The victim, who could not speak, later told her relatives in sign language that she had been raped.

The relatives took her back to the soccer field, but before arriving there the woman identified the suspect, who was sitting at a security post with friends.

"The suspect said he raped the woman because the last time he had sex was four years ago," Sudarsana said. -- JP
