Man arrested for brother's murder

JAKARTA (JP): Bogor Police are currently questioning a man for allegedly murdering his elder brother after a squabble over money at their residence on Jl. Kampung Kopi in the Puspasari area of Citeureup, Bogor, on Thursday night.

Bogor Police station chief of detectives Adj. Comr. Santo Marpaung identified the suspect as Edi Wahyudi, 18, who in his drunkenness, had allegedly stabbed his brother Abdul Malik, 36, to death.

"The murder was witnessed by Edi's family. Abdul died of stab wounds to his stomach. He died at the PMI Bogor Hospital," Santo told reporters.

"Edi came home drunk at 9 p.m. on Thursday. He asked for money from his mother. His mother refused him. So, he asked his brother."

Abdul gave Edi some money, but Edi felt that it was not enough, so he picked a fight with Abdul.

"In his anger, Edi went to the kitchen, took out a huge knife and started stabbing his brother with it, in front of the whole family," Santo said. (ylt)
