Maluku minimum wage rises by 23%
AMBON, Maluku: The Maluku provincial administration has increased the regional minimum monthly wage by 23 percent from Rp 285,000 to Rp 370,000, an official said on Tuesday.
The head of the provincial manpower office, Ade Adam Noh, said a gubernatorial decree increasing the minimum wage had been signed by Maluku Governor M. Saleh Latuconsina. It will come into effect next year.
Ade did not elaborate on the reasons behind the rise, but the increase could be attributed to rising inflation. Regional minimum wages are expected to go up across the country next year. -- Antara
