Mall security guard fatally mobbed

JAKARTA (JP): West Jakarta Police detectives are looking for four men who they believe mobbed to death a mall security guard after dragging him from his house in Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng.

West Jakarta Police chief of detectives Capt. Sahar identified on Wednesday the prime suspect as Sumarno.

He said the Tuesday killing was most likely an act of revenge.

The victim, who worked at Mal Taman Anggrek shopping mall, was identified as Irawan Lusta Luhu, 35.

"When Sumarno arrived in the evening with his three friends at the mall parking lot, they started laughing for no reason when they saw Irawan. Again, when they passed by Irawan, they laughed," Sahar said.

"This really made Irawan angry. When he asked what the guys were laughing at, they said that they were laughing at girls ... when actually there were no girls around the place."

"So, Irawan slapped Sumarno at the parking lot in front of several onlookers."

Sahar said Sumarno then gathered his friends to teach the security guard a lesson. After locating Irawan's house on Tuesday evening, the gang then dragged him from it and beat him to death in a quiet spot. (ylt)
