Mall construction continues

TANGERANG: The construction of Metropolitan mall in Modernland
housing estate on Jl. Sudirman in Cikokol subdistrict continues
although developer PT Modernland Realty has not obtained permits
yet from the Municipal Permit and Capital Investment Office
(KPPM).

Dozens of workers were seen busily working on the construction
site on Monday morning.

The municipal Public Order Office closed the mall site last
Friday due to the developer's failure to produce a building
permit from KPPM.

KPPM chief Dafyar Eliadi said that KPPM would hold a meeting
with Mayor M. Thamrin and all agency chiefs on Thursday to decide
measures to be taken against the developer for violation of bylaw
No. 7/2001 on building permits.

"We know PT Modernland has ignored the bylaw, that is all I
can say," he told the media, adding that if the mall construction
was proven to have violated bylaws, the permit would not be
issued.

Wayan Satia of PT Modern Realty who is responsible for the
project construction could not be reached for comment. He was out
of office, according to Iskak Effendi, a security officer and
Agung, a receptionist at Modernland.--JP
