Malaysian King to get RI degree

SEMARANG: Diponegoro University here will confer an honorary
doctorate degree on Malaysian King Ja'afar Abdul Rahman.

University Rector Muladi said yesterday: "Given his background
and contribution to forging ties between Indonesia and Malaysia,
we feel it necessary to award such a degree."

The Malaysian King is revered as a person with esteemed
academic credentials as he studied at Nottingham University,
Oxford University and London School of Economics.

The presentation of the degree will be held on Oct. 11. (har)
