Malaysian caught with Ecstasy pills
MEDAN, North Sumatra: A Malaysian man has been caught trying to smuggle into Indonesia 5,000 Ecstasy pills hidden in a video camera, Antara said on Wednesday.
Colonel Wenny Warou, head of North Sumatra's police detectives, was quoted as saying the man was caught by customs officers on Tuesday morning at the Polonia airport after arriving on a Malaysian Airlines System flight.
Warou said his camera, when X-rayed, was found to have the pills inside.
He said the suspect, who was not identified by name, told police he had carried the drug at the request of a Medan man who had promised to meet him at the airport.
Indonesia has had several high-profile Ecstasy arrests in recent months as the drug has become popular among the country's elite.
