Malaysian caught overstaying
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: A Malaysian citizen, Tan Tian Chae, 23, has been quarantined by the local immigration office for violating immigration laws. He overstayed his visa by almost four months, Antara reported.
An immigration official, Surya Pranata, said here on Friday that Tan, born in Johor, Malaysia, had been in quarantine since March 6, 1999, for overstaying his visa by 68 days.
He said the Kupang immigration office sent a letter to the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta to arrange for the departure of Tan to Malaysia.
However, he has not received an answer from the embassy concerning Tan's case, he said.
"We asked the embassy to help move Tan from Kupang. But there's been no answer so far," Pranata said.
